Day 100

Day 100

I woke up early in the motel and ate some continental breakfast. I showered, changed, and packed the buggy. I checked out at 10:30a.m. and hit the road. I stopped and made a few peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I also ate some walnuts and cranberries.

First Baptist Church, Smithville, TX

I doubled back into Smithville to the First Baptist Church in town. I filled up my empty water containers at a hose. I crossed the Colorado river just north of town and joined Highway 71. I started putting in the miles.

I’ve crossed over the Colorado River many times since leaving Colombus. Lots of flooding leaving Smithville.

me!

It was a beautiful day. The sun beat down. I had the radio on. I was moving.

I worked my way through the hills. I saw a lot of beautiful sights. I passed along Bastrop State park and into Bastrop city limits.

I followed a frontage road for a few miles that ran parallel with 71. I saw some crazy kid running backwards down a hill with no shirt on. He kept going. He wasn’t even looking. I couldnt help but laugh. I asked him if he needed anything and he told me he was all set. Down the road he went.

New Convenant Church, Bastrop, TX

Storm clouds started to roll in, and I found myself just outside Bastrop. I found a church just off 71 and sought shelter.

The New Convent church must be building a new shed or something. There was a little water proof construction site and I scurried inside. I set up my hammock, chatted with some friends and family, and ate some beans for dinner. I fell asleep to raindrops upon the tarp. I slept well.

You have two 88s as well! You must just be trying to make it seem like you’re going even faster! 😉
