Day 61

Day 61

I woke up at the comfort inn and took my time getting ready for the day. I decided to use the most of the 11 AM check out time, and left shortly after. I started putting in the miles.

I met Brandon. He was bicycling along highway 90. Didnt get a photo of him. He is on the street. A few months ago his cousin was shot and killed. Brandon asked me for some money and I was able to help him out. He was asking me all kinds of questions about the run. We parted ways at the family dollar, where Brandon went inside hoping to find a job.

I travelled through Paradis and into Des Allamands. I arrived at St. Gertrude late afternoon and decided to call it a day.

Fr. Ray

I put in a phone call to the church and was able to get in touch with Fr. Ray. He gave me permission to camp! Later that evening Fr. Ray opened up the parish hall for me to sleep in, he even gave me a plate of spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, and access to any food or drink I needed in the kitchen!
It was really nice of him, he went the extra mile to help me out. I think it was his day off too. I fell asleep in my sleeping bag in the parish hall feeling safe indoors. It was a great half day.
